Announcing Marley Hanishewsky as Youngest Female National President
Kin Canada is excited to announce Marley Hanishewsky as its 105th National President. Making history as the youngest female president in the association’s 100+ year history, Marley is poised to lead Kin Canada with new perspectives and creative ideas. Her extensive experience will continue to serve Kin Canada well as it evolves to attract new members within the changing volunteer landscape across Canada.
Marley officially joined Kin in September 2014, but her journey began much earlier as a proud 'Kin Kid.' Her first formal involvement with Kin was through the University of Regina Campus Kin Club, where she discovered her passion for community service. Since then, Marley has continued her active involvement in Kin, even through two work relocations for her full-time job as a Emergency Telecommunications Operator with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She is now a member of the Charlottetown Kin Club on PEI, where she holds the distinction of being the club’s first female member.
Over the years, Marley has served in various leadership capacities at the club, district, and national levels. A pivotal moment in her journey was joining the National Club Support Committee, where she aimed to address the needs of Campus Clubs and younger members. This experience helped her realize her potential to make a meaningful difference within the organization. From there, Marley wasted no time achieving her goal of serving on Kin Canada’s Board as a National Directors. She was then elected as National Vice President, followed by National President.
Throughout her impressive time with the organization, Marley has remained deeply passionate about fostering an environment that welcomes and supports the next generation of leaders. "For our association to continue thriving, we must empower and elevate younger members," she stated. "Giving them a voice, inspiring their growth, and elevating their leadership potential is my primary focus as National President."
To further this priority, Marley plans to implement a “Top 30 Under 30” program aimed at highlighting and celebrating young Kin members dedicated to serving their communities and who inspire others to engage in volunteerism. She hopes the initiative will encourage the next generation of leaders who will help “Elevate Kin” for years to come.
"I'm truly thrilled about the year ahead as National President of Kin Canada," said Marley. "The opportunity to travel across the country, connect with clubs, meet new members, and inspire our association to ‘Elevate Kin’ is an honour,” she says.
Other members have greatly enjoyed witnessing Marley excel in every challenge she takes on. “Marley has been a shining star in Kin and I am excited to see her elevate Kin Canada members through recognition in the ‘Top 30 Under 30’ program. I am inspired by her tenacity, her drive in the face of difficulty and adversity, and her ability to persevere despite roadblocks. She is and will continue to be a role model to younger Kin, navigating a way to leadership despite age and prejudices,” says fellow member Past National President Erin Thomson.
Marley will serve as National President of Kin Canada until August 2025.
