Description of project | As a non-profit group you can buy from Krispy Kreme a dozen donuts for $5.00. We then pre-sold them at $10/dozen. Large orders we dropped off to business' and others we had a pickup site. We wore Krispy Kreme Donut hats and had a lot of fun. Sold 650 doz donuts and made $3,250 for the food bank. We encouraged business' to buy a dozen for each of their employees as as thank you for this difficult time. Dentist would buy 10 dz for their staff Grocery stores bought 60 doz for their staff The senior's home bought 30 doz for their staff to take home. Simply ask: "Do you like Krispy Kreme donuts?" Explain its for a good cause and you have a sale. One advantage we had is that there are no stores in our area, so its a real treat. We drove about 1/1/2 hours to pick them up, but someone volunteered to do that. We gave him a dozen donuts!! |
Service Hours | 51-100 |
Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? | Yes |
If you answered yes to the question above, please explain: | We got 3 new members because of the high profile and fun we had. |
How was this project promoted in your community? | Road signs, flyers around town and social media. We would send the link directly to those who wanted to buy. They ordered and paid in advance ! |
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? | We sold so many it had to be spread over 2 days...maybe that's not a problem :) |
What was the approximate budget for this project? | No cost (ex. KINdness project, time only) |
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project? | Buy Krispy kreme donuts for $5 per dozen and sell for $10/dozen...Simple. They could also be frozen so that encourages people to buy more. Suggest employers give a dozen to each of their employees, so they can take home and enjoy with their families. Shows appreciation to the whole family ! |
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? | $1,000-$5000 |
What were the expenses for this project? | All volunteer. A sponsor paid for flyers and picked up the donuts at no charge ! |
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? | Reach out to your local Krispy Kreme store (assuming there is one within a few hours drive) before you get into selling. You need to actually apply to them for the right to sell them. Mention Kinsmen and it should be a good door opener. Determine the date about 6 weeks out. Use online sales for as much as you can. Get pre-orders for all of it and money in advance. |
