Description of project |
The Kinettes spent the day doing various kind acts: delivering Thank You cards to our local police departments, RCMP, Fire Departments and Paramedics; paying for parking at the local hospital; donating coat hangers to the ICU; delivering timbits and coffee to the nursing staff of the 4th floor at the hospital; delivering cookies to our local youth homeless shelter; delivering pizzas to our local women's shelter; donating money to Global Pet Store for their fundraiser for our local SPCA; handing out Hershey chocolate kisses and Tim Horton's cards to the public at the mall; partnering with Maurices Clothing store at the mall to support our local food bank. Customers who donated to the food bank were offered a discount on their purchase. |

Did you leverage this project as a way to recruit new members? |

By interacting with the public we were hoping to guage interest in our club, and engaging them in the projects that we do for the local community. |
How was this project promoted in your community? |
Newspaper; radio; posters at the mall; social media (Facebook). |
What were some challenges you faced with this project, and how could your project be improved? |
Making sure there are enough people to participalte in all of the planned events (some members had to withdraw from their commitment due to unforseen circumstances). We hope to engage the Kinsmen more next year, and perhaps encourage other businesses to join us and see if the projec might grow. |
What was the approximate budget for this project? |
Less than $1,000 |
If the project was a fundraiser, what were the sources of revenue for this project? |
|
If this was a fundraiser, how much money was raised (minus expenses)? |
Not Applicable |
What were the expenses for this project? |
Total expenses were $276.02. |
Is there anything else you would like to share that would assist another club in duplicating this project in their community? |
The possibilites are endless with what clubs can do. It can be as big or small as you want, and engaging the public as much as you can can turn it into a "pay it forward" type of movement. |
